[b]Inside Media: Remembering the Space Shuttle Challenger 30 Years Later[/b] January 23, 2016; 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Knight TV Studio, Newseum Washington, DC On Jan. 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded shortly after takeoff from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, killing the seven crew members. The Newseum [URL=http://www.newseum.org/event/inside-media-remembering-the-space-shuttle-challenger-30-years-later/]marks the 30th anniversary of the Challenger tragedy[/URL] with a special "Inside Media" featuring Kathie Scobee Fulgham, daughter of Challenger commander Dick Scobee, former astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria, and former CNN reporter John Zarrella, who witnessed the tragedy firsthand. CNN was the only network to cover the launch live. The panel will look back at media coverage of the event and how the disaster affected the nation's space exploration program. The program will also explore the future of the space program. The program is presented in partnership with the Astronaut Memorial Foundation.
